Jake took me to the store last night and I saw the most amazing
thing! There was a group of girls walking around in really pretty
dresses with their hair done and really pretty make-up. "Look at the
princesses!" I told Jake. He laughed and told me they were going to
prom. I didn't know what prom was, so he explained it to me. "Prom is
a formal dance for high schoolers where they can hang out with
friends, The girls all wear formal gowns and the guys wear tuxes. It's
kind of more for the girls cuz the guys have to pay for dinner and
flowers and usually the tickets too" Prom sounded so fun to me, but I
tried to pay attention cuz Jake was still talking. "You know, I
crashed your mom's prom" he said, smiling a little. "That's so mean!"
I told him, starting to ge upset. "My dad told me to" he said,
picking me up. "You see, he didn't like your daddy. He thought he was
gonna hurt your mom. So he sent me to give your daddy a warning about
hurting your mom." This just confused me more. Why would Billy think
that daddy would hurt mom? He never hurt me. When we got home, I told
mom all about the girls in the store and what Jake had told me about
prom. "I remember my prom" she said, lost in thought. "I didn't want
to go because I was still human. I didn't think I would be able to
dance or have any fun with my friends. Not to mention my foot was
broken. But your daddy decided we were going anyway. He didn't tell me
where we were going until we got there. I still have the dress in our
closet. It was so unusual for Forks I couldn't bring myself to sell
it." "Can I see it?" I asked. She went and got it for me to look at.
It was so beautiful it put all the other dresses I seen today to
shame. It was blue with lots of frill. "Your Aunt Alice bought if for
me from France and when you get older, it'll be yours" she told me. I
couldn't wait until I was old enough to wear it. I can already see
Jake taking me to prom and everything. But for now, I'm going to
school.
